Ingrid Janssen, B. Th., B. Ed.
I began my career in public education in Winnipeg where I taught French
Immersion at the elementary level. However, since 1995, we have been living in the
foothills just north of Water Valley and have been educating our four children at home.
It's been a wonderful life where play, work, and learning all mesh together. Our children
have been able to pursue their interests in natural science, outdoor pursuits, and music.

Home education has been as much of a learning experience for me as it has been for our children.
We have tried various approaches from structured to unstructured and from parent-led to
interest-based activities, to on-line courses. We have also tried various curricula,
read various philosophies of education, and struggled with learning disabilities.
Two of my children have completed the first stage of their learning: both of them
graduated in 2009. I believe that the learning process is just that, a process and
a journey that never ends, for both parents and children.

Some of my personal interests include gardening and keeping bees. I look forward to
meeting you and learning with you.
