Elizabeth Grace Surridge, B. Ed., Cert. Mediation
Education has been my pursuit for many years, with university all over the place,
agricultural studies in Olds and teaching in formal settings in rural Alberta.
Also, I work at home with my two children, Melanna and Adrian.
An interest in Home Education stems from early university days, while student
teaching, when I saw the diversity of learners struggling to meet daily expectations.
My work as a home educator extends into the delivery of short courses in junior high
environmental studies program, action science, drama, French and senior high essay writing.
My interests lie in the sciences, particularly biology and ecology, as well as writing, music,
French, drama and travel.
A quarter section at the edge of the forest reserve, near Water Valley, is where we call home.
My husband and partner is a watercolour artist and conservation/wildlife biologist, studying
grizzly bears and wolves. We have conducted field studies on sailing boats in the Gulf Islands,
to ponds, forests and almost anywhere outside.
I welcome the opportunity to work with Home Learning Connections families, to learn with students
who work at their own pace and in particular, students who are self-directed and participating
in their own goals and directions.
